When customer checks-out there are two pages that asks him to Payment Method, and the method selected from the first page is not carried over into the 2nd.
1. In Customer Info page, after the shipping form there''s the Payment Details section asking to choose a payment method. In our case, we set that to Paypal, Bank Deposit, Cash.
2. In the Checkout page, after reviewing the shopping cart, customer is taken to the Payment Information page which again asks him to how to pay.
- however both Paypal and Other Payment Type are fixed options here ie the Paypal option appears here even if customer selected "Bank Deposit" in step 1 above.
- so customer now selects Payment Method again regardless of the choice he made in step 1 (making step 1 redundant - perhaps we just omit this in step 1?)
Beside the redundancy issue, my test is showing that surcharge handling is incorrect possibly due to this duplicate Payment Method page
Supposing in our case, there''s no surcharge for Bank Deposit or Cash but we charge 3% for Paypal.
Scenario A: Customer selects Paypal in Step 1 and also Paypal in Step 2 - Paypal surcharge of 3% is correctly applied
Scenario B: Customer selects Bank Deposit in Step 1 and also Bank Deposit (or Cash) in Step 2 - no surcharge applied (which is icorrect)
Scenario C: Customer selects Bank Deposit in Step 1 but in Step 2 switches to Paypal - no surcharge applied (this is incorrect since if he''s paying by Paypal, the 3% surcharge should be added but I think system is using the Payment Method value in Step 1 to determine surcharge)
Anyone had the same observation? |

An update - this is confirmed as an issue and hopefully will get a patch update soon to resolve this. In the meantime the Quick Order Checkout module should be a good workaround for this. |

No, this error is in the normal multi-step checkout process. Cam confirmed this is not an issue if using onepagecheckout. |
