 email order confirmation does not arrive

I noticed with (both v7 v8 of vpasp) that email delivery confirmation of order sometimes do not arrive.

3/10 email does not arrive .

not a problem of spam .

You have a problem like this? Do you have any solution ?

When the mail does not come to me, the email does not even reach the customer. And this is quite serious because the customer does not have the confirmation that your order has gone successful

Hi Alessandro,

Is the problem happening at the same time of day or week etc? Are the emails going to similar addresses ? (like aol.com or gmail.com)
If you can see no pattern to the disappearances at all then perhaps you could ask your host to look into it and maybe put a trace on your site emails to see what is happening because a 30% failure rate is quite serious.
We had a similar issue although not as bad as yours and our host never found out why it happens and it still does occasionally. I just re-email the order to the customer from the admin panel.

As you I''ve never found out why it happens. These emails that do not arrive, appear not to exist. as if they had never generated

I wander the problem by sending the confirmation of the shipment very quickly (often the same day) and then the disruption is minimal. But certainly if I had this problem would be very much better

Hi Alessandro,

Are the orders being paid with PayPal or another type of gateway that takes the customer to the gateway site to enter card details?

VPCart replies on the customer landing on shopthanks.asp to send the emails.

So if the customer is not returning to the store after entering their card details the cart will not send out the email.

Let me know if the above could be what is happening.

You''re right. The problem comes out when people pay using PayPal and after the payment they don''t come back to the shopthanks.asp

Alessandro, what type of Paypal payment you are having problem ? paypal standard / paypal pro / payflow pro / payflow link ? is this happening to both of your v7 and v8 ?

I''m using paypal pro, the problem is:

when people complete the payment, the paypal pro page must redirect to my shopthanks.asp page
teorically this mustb be an instant operation, but the paypal pro page takes 3-7 seconds to redirect after the payment

people pay > confirmed payment > 3 - 6 seconds > shopthanks.asp page

but if people close after the payment they don''t take the email confirmation
