I have been using 6.5 for years now and finally upgraded to 8. However, I installed the version 8 to a new folder and copied the 6.5 database over to use on this new version of my cart. That way while I was building the new cart, I could continue to take orders on my 6.5 cart. Now I''m finally done with the 8 cart and want to make it my live cart and take the 6.5 offline. However, over the past month I''ve gotten a number of new orders in my 6.5 database that are now not in my 8 copied database. How can I move all of these new orders (or replace all the orders) from my 6.5 database to my 8 database? Is there a way through the admin section or am I better off doing this via the host and database specific programs? I am using MSSQL database by the way. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks! |

Seems you need to download copydb800 addon. Also, please always remember to make a backup of your live database before making these changes or running the Upgrade Wizard. |

It looks like you must have run the version 8''s upgrade wizard with a backed up database and that''s the reason why the new orders were not updated to your version 8''s site.
For this, I would suggest running the Upgrade Wizard using the latest live database.
And, if you are too afraid to upgrade with the live database, you can do the following: a) Set your store to catalog mode (no orders will be received when your store is in catalog mode) during your site''s non-peak hours. b) Backup the live database. c) Run the upgrade wizard with the live database.
Let us know how it went.
Copydb will do as well but, it might cause some issues as the database structure of version 8 is a little different from that of version 6.5. Besides, it might take a long time via this manner as well.
Thank you.
Best Regards, Daniel
