I und VPCart uses ContactID as the primary key for the Customer table. And the introduction of User Id (since VPASP v7? coz I remembered it was not there in earlier ver) is a very useful enhancement since customers remember user id (or email) more easily than using "last name" to login.

However I notice User ID is not set as a unique key, and I realized I''ve two customers with the same user id! They are test records however.

But it could mean two (or more) unrelated customers sharing the same user id. Which can be a problem.

Any thoughts on this? Can we just put a unique index on the User Id field (via MSSQL admin) for a quick resolution?

THink we can do it using MSSQL admin but there need to be a handling of the error messages when a duplicate user id is entered.

Hi Jack,

In the front end we do actually block users from being able to an existing username if xcustomeruserid is enabled.

It is only in the admin that there is no validation.

This is a new feature for version 8 for the front end so you do not have duplicate issues.

Thsnkd Cam. This is good enough. If there''s already a check on the frontend, then all I need to do is to run a query for duplicates and do some cleanup in the backend.
