Anyone know how to make the background boxes, those grey ones behind the text wider?

Could you give us a bit more information please?
Is it on the shopdisplayproducts.asp page or on shopexd.asp?
Or even better a link to a page that shows exactly what you want to change.

It wasn''t the setting part that was the problem. I was able to modify the template file to the desired width. I found out that the images themselves were set to a specific size in pixels. I located them in the images folder of the template I was using (I bought one when I purchased my cart), and edited them with Corel Paintshop Pro 16 to the width I needed making sure to remove the lock aspect option so only the width was enlarged

bducolon, i agree that with you, some time need to editing the background images directly with photoshop or someother software.

yes that''s correct, not all color and background controlled by html color code, sometimes they also controlled by image, and you need to know where''s the correct image location, you can find out on layout.css
