Hello, Newbie question here. So i want to have another stock message that works much like the "Out of Stock" one. Instead i want it to display "Discontinued" when the stock is set to a value like 999999, how would i go about doing this?

I see xoutofstocklimit in the tables and the language it points to but i don''t know what to do to make a whole new message rather than just editing the existing one. What do you guys think?

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

What you''re asking for could be done in a few different ways.

1. You could use a spare text field in the products table eg. pother1 which you could add ''Discontinued'' to any of the products. You would then add a new language record for Discontinued and then add this field to the product templates, tmp_product.htm and tmp_productformat.htm

2. Create a product called Discontinued. Each time you discontinue and hide a product, you add the product code to one of the fields you use in your search function in the ''Discontinued'' product. This is the way our site lists discontinued items. It''s good because you only get one discontinued product appearing after a search. Try it on our site with YS21 if you want.

3. In the admin panel find the field xprice0 and enter Discontinued as the message to be displayed. Then any time you discontinue a product, set it''s price to 0. This is ok as long as you don''t need zero price products.

4. The hard way - open the file shopformatproduct.asp and write a sub to display things a certain way if the data from one of the product records matches your specified criteria.

5. Get someone else to do it for you lol

Kindest regards,

Carrol
