During installation for SQLServer 2000 the following tables are not created:

Blogs, news and content. This is caused by the varchar (max) definition, as far as i've looked there is not conversion done in the installation therefor the creation of those tables faile. There is no warning or failure during installation.

On SQLServer 2005 is creates those table just fine.

I have not experience with mysql but it's just a hint where to look

I think latest v7 update pack need your server to use MYSQL 5.1 ODBC driver instead.

Diego.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but Mark's post describes my dilemma exactly. I am getting the same error on the home page. I am using MySQL 5.10 though, so that's not the problem.

This is on an upgrade from 6.50 to 7.02. The steps I took to upgrade were to back up the DB, copy the install to a new directory, and run the wizard. So, all the files are new (not overwriting the old) but the DB was upgraded.

I had this problem too; I changed the mysql type in vpasp to 3.5 (even though the database itself was 5.1), ie so that it used the old driver, and then it worked ok. I assume that the host simply didn't have an up to date driver installed on the server.

Thanks Simon... but I definitely do have the 5.1 driver installed. I'm using it on a few other sites. I am the hosting company in this case, so I'm not at the whim of someone else from this standpoint.

Still looking for an answer as to what the problem actually is being caused by. I may have to burn a support ticket on this.
