Hi Peter

You need to have your site set up to use SQL Server as the sessions are stored in the database.

MySQL can be used but is not ideal because as far as I know you cannot set indexes on the MySQL tables.

A client has the session functionality enabled here.

They have also connected to CRE Secure to allow them to be fully PCI Compliant.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

Thanks Cam.

It seems to work well. I've just come back a day later and my cart was still there. Great!

One question though, what sort of performance hit can be expected when using persistent cart sessions? I ask because that site loads incredibly slowly for me. Not sure if it's just me?

Hi Peter,

It is very slow for us as well. I actually had a look at this after I posted yesterday as it worried me too and I wanted to find out what the issue was.

It seems they have applied a very fancy custom menu to their site which is slowing it down dramatically. I removed this temporarily while testing and the sped up considerably.

You can have a look at the menu by mousing over the little red arrows. It looks great but they may need to optimise it a bit more.

There is a slight decrease in performance using database sessions however it is nowhere like what you see here.

Thank you.
