Mobile consumers: the latest trends

Ever since mobile phones were invented, they’ve been changing the way we communicate and behave. As the technology develops and capabilities expand, so does our behaviour. Nowadays, smartphones are so useful to us, they’re rarely out of sight.

You can use your phone to talk to friends and family, get directions, research any topic and make purchases, amongst many other uses. And the things we rely on our phones for are increasing every day.

One of the most interesting trends is that of the mobile consumer. We no longer have to visit stores or shop on a desktop computer – instead, we can use our phones to purchase stuff online. It rarely takes more than a few clicks, making it an easy option on-the-go. In fact, m-commerce sales are estimated to reach $626 billion in 2018, almost equalling global e-commerce sales in 2013.

What’s more, the effects of mobile in retail are diverse. Contactless technologies allowing you to pay with your phone, companies using personal brand experiences on social media, and the amount of data which is mined from our mobile usage. It’s quickly clear to see the influence phones are having on our shopping habits.
