For some ecommerce stores, Valentine's Day can be the second busiest time of the year after Christmas so it would be unwise not to promote your store during this period.
Below are five marketing tips you can use to boost sales over the Valentine's Day period:
Create Specific Categories
Spend a few minutes creating categories such as ‘Valentine’s Gifts for Her’ or even go more specific with categories such as ‘Valentines Gifts for Under $20’ etc. The easier you make gift buying for rushed shoppers the better.
Email Your Customers
If you have never segmented your customer email list, Valentine’s Day is a great time to get started. Segment your list by gender and send targeted emails to each sex (e.g. Perfect Valentine’s Gifts for HIM / HER). Remember that males are more likely to leave it as late as possible so send emails 2 or 3 days before your ‘last shipping date for Valentine’s gifts’ and let them know time is running out!

Offer Free Gift Wrapping
Another way to make life easier for your customers is to offer a free gift wrapping service. Obviously this isn’t such a great idea if you work with small profit margins but for more expensive gifts, a well promoted free gift wrapping service will go a long way to securing the Valentine ’s Day gift buying dollars of your customers.
Offer Gift Receipts
Allow your customers to buy in confidence with a gift receipt option so their loved ones can return and exchange any unwanted gifts without knowing the price.
Promote Gift Certificates
For shoppers who have literally left it until the last minute, give them the option of buying an electronic gift certificate. Sell them with copy such as "for the woman who knows what she wants – even when you don’t” and send out an email late on February the 13th so it reaches the inboxes of last minute panic buyers who will be desperate to avoid being empty handed on Valentines Morning.
